Health Issues Caused by Spinal Misalignment

Your spine is the epicenter of your entire body as well as your immune system so when it gets out of alignment it causes a variety of health problems, such as:

  • chronic headaches / migraines
  • back spasms
  • lower back pain
  • insomnia
  • high blood pressure
  • respiratory problems
  • inflammation throughout the body

The first seven bones in your back—called C1 to C7—are the ones that are most apt to become misaligned and cause problems.

What Happens to Your Overall Health When Your Spine is Misaligned?

C1 is the first vertebrae in your spine and is located in the top of your neck and base of your skull, and is the only vertebrae that does not have a disk. If injured or out of alignment it causes strain or stress on your brain stem or spinal cord, resulting in everything from headaches and migraines to
high blood pressure, insomnia, ear problems, balance issues, and depression.

C2 allows you to turn your head from side to side. When it is injured or misaligned it causes pain
in your neck as well as problems affecting your eyesight, hearing, sinuses, and head.

C3 is at the level of your lower jaw and affects your outer ear, cheeks, teeth, bones in your face,
and the main sensory nerve in your face. If negatively affected it can cause neuralgia or severe nerve pain.

C4 sits behind the Adam’s apple and can cause major problems when out of line. It has direct
influence on our ears, nose, and mouth. The nerves in this area allow us to breathe and enables us to move our shoulders, arms, and collarbone. Injury here has been known to be the cause of COPD or asthma.

C5 is critical for the function of your diaphragm, pharynx, vocal chords, and neck glands.

C6 is associated with issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tonsillitis, stiff neck, and chronic coughing, if misaligned.

C7 is the last vertebrae in the neck and can cause bursitis in the shoulder and elbow, as well as thyroid issues.

Migraine and Cervical Neck Alignment It has been said that eighty percent of incurable headaches and migraines are caused by cervical spine misalignment. One of these is Trigeminal Neuralgia, and this is known as the number one pain in the world. My poor mother suffered from this and many times that shooting pain in her cheek brought her to her knees. The cause of Primary Trigeminal Neuralgia is unknown, but Secondary T.N. can be caused by tumors, aneurysms, vascular
issues, or cervical misalignment.

Cervicogenic Headaches

Another malady resulting from trouble with the cervical spine is Cervicogenic headaches. This is pain at the back of the head, spreading to the top of the skull, to the forehead or temple. Often it causes pain behind the eye. The worst cases of these headaches cause nausea, poor concentration, and irritability. Their cause is a disorder or lesion within the cervical Cervicogenic Headaches are Ruining My Life! What Can I Do?spine or soft tissues of the neck.

Treatment for the headaches should target the cause of the pain and can include nerve blocks, physical therapy, and special exercises.

Unfortunately, the usual pain medications are ineffective, so seizure meds are used. The other option is surgery, which helps in some cases. The surgeon inserts a small pad between the blood vessels and the nerve but this is usually only a temporary fix.

Acupuncture has been known to give positive results in many cases.

There are several cervical spine self-adjustments that can be utilized to help alleviate the pain. These are practiced in Chinese medicine. Acupuncture points are massaged with your thumbs. Rub the muscles below your skull to loosen them. Using your thumbs clasp the acupuncture points and shake your head with force. In Chinese Medicine these points are called Fenchi, Anmian, and Wangu.

National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association | Is NUCCA a Scam?

There is one treatment which I have found eases my back pain more than any other. It is called NUCCA and stands for National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. It is done by chiropractors, as the name implies, but does not involve their regular twisting and popping. The fundamentals of this technique are safe, painless, and non-invasive. Its focus is to correct misalignment of the upper cervical spine.

Despite what you might read on the internet saying that NUCCA is a scam, I can only say that, for me, it has proven to be anything but.

Before treatment begins, very precise x-rays of the head and neck are taken and used to make mathematical measurements in order to evaluate the misalignment. Analyzing the x-rays, the chiropractor is able to identify the relationship between posture and upper cervical misalignments. Returning the bones of the neck to a normal position causes both the body and the spine to function properly. Is NUCCA a scam

NUCCA treatments are light and gentle, subtle adjustments of the upper surgical region of the neck, and only take a few minutes. Due to the original x-rays, this is an evidence-based approach that pinpoints and alleviates the cause of your neck and back pain.

One thing that impressed me, besides the obvious lack of pain, was that it was not necessary to return for
repeated corrections as often as with most chiropractic treatments.

Are You Boron Deficient?

Both boron and vitamin deficiencies are common among people with severe back and joint pain. Bone health depends heavily on boron, since boron deficiency tends to cause both calcium and magnesium deficiencies. Boron also plays an important role in the metabolization of vitamin D.

This boron supplement from NOW Foods (amazing brand, which Craig uses) has a ton of great reviews, and is actually very inexpensive.

Summary

I sincerely hope that this information will assist you in understanding your pain issues and hopefully you will find a method that alleviates, or at least eases that pain.

But, most importantly, if you are young and don’t yet have back issues… take care of your spine, before it gets crooked!

You will always find a never-ending stream of bad testimonies online claiming that chiropractic does more harm than good, and I can say from experience that it is hard not to agree. And you will likewise find people saying that NUCCA is a scam. All I can say is that I’m very happy to have discovered it, and for me NUCCA is not a scam, but has in fact helped me like nothing else has. I guess you can only try it to find out if it will work for you, as well.
