How Much Coffee Is it Healthy to Drink Daily?

Is drinking 2 cups of coffee everyday healthy, or is this just a popular myth?

Many recent studies show that moderate intake of coffee is good for health.

Mmmmm. Coffee. Close your eyes, breathe deep, and imagine that delicious aroma wafting toward you. There is just nothing that compares to it. I cannot even imagine a morning without my two cups of hot java.

For all you coffee lovers I have some good news. For a long time the “experts” (and I use the word loosely), claimed that coffee was detrimental to your health in many and varied ways. Well, not anymore. After extensive studies they have decided that it not only does not hurt you, but has several important health benefits.

So let’s get this show on the road.

The Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee

Here are 10 reasons drinking 2 cups of coffee everyday is healthy:

1. Recent studies found that coffee drinkers can ward off coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease.

2. Since coffee processes sugar, it is less likely that coffee drinkers will get type 2 diabetes.

3. Both regular and decaffeinated coffee help to protect your liver.

4. Coffee drinkers are 26% less likely to develop colorectal cancer.

5. Strokes and Alzheimer’s are held at bay by coffee in many cases.

6. Caffeine is known to reduce tremors in Parkinson’s disease patients.

7. Caffeine mobilizes fat stores, thus enhancing the process of converting fats into energy.

8. Not to be indelicate but coffee makes you poop! Colon activity increases quickly after drinking even one cup of coffee. No more constipation.

9. Researchers have recentlyIs mushroom coffee a scam? discovered that coffee may provide a protective effect on the neurological system.

10. Coffee has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic effects on our bodies.

So, even though we are gleefully aware that our morning joe is not a no-no, there are a few rules to follow.

Buy Quality Organic Coffee | Mushroom Coffee

Try to get high quality coffee, organic if possible; drink it black, and do not add cream, sugar, or other unhealthy additives. If you feel you must add something to your coffee, try coconut oil or MCT oil.

Is drinking more than 2 cups of coffee everyday healthy?

Definitely limit your intake to four cups throughout the day. Too much caffeine can cause increased heart rate, raised blood pressure, anxiety, and insomnia. If you have high cholesterol or are pregnant it is better to forego the coffee altogether.

This brings me to my next point.

There is a healthy and tasty alternative for those who are unable to drink coffee for whatever reason.

Or is mushroom coffee just another scam?

Is mushroom coffee a scam? It seems that many people actually wonder if mushroom coffee is just another scam by clever marketers. It is a fair question, these days.

Actually, mushroom coffee is healthier than the regular brew, containing several medicinal extracts. But as with anything, you really have to be careful where you get it. As is our practice at Un-Pharma, we have done the leg work for you in that regard because we delight in weeding out the garbage (is that a mixed metaphor?) and finding the genuine, pure and potent stuff, with the best value. All that to say that there is a link to such a product near the bottom of the article.

Apparently, mushrooms were used as a coffee substitute in Finland during World War 2. So this is not a new discovery. Coffee made with mushrooms is a delicate blend of ground mushrooms and coffee beans which produces a lovely smooth, nutty tasting coffee. It is customary to use medicinal mushrooms rather than culinary ones. The powdered mushrooms are (hopefully) free from fillers and additives, allowing the finished product to reduce anxiety, which, as I’m sure you know, can occur in regular coffee.

Mushroom coffee can be purchased in instant coffee packets, ground coffee blends, or coffee pods.

To prepare a steaming cup of coffee, use the same method as you would for regular coffee. Mushroom coffee is also great for lattes, mochas, and other coffee drinks. Just keep in mind that those delicious concoctions are most certainly not as healthy.

Speaking of which, mushroom coffee contains about half the caffeine as regular coffee. So there you have it. A tasty alternative. Give it a try.

Drinking Coffee with Bad Kidneys

I have a chronic kidney disease, though. Is it okay for me to drink coffee?

How does daily coffee consumption affect people with chronic kidney disease?

Despite many opposing opinions on the internet (and as counter-intuitive as it may seem), Science Daily cites a new study in Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation indicating that drinking more coffee may help reduce the risk of death for people with chronic kidney disease:

“The possible protective effect of caffeine might be related with effects at vascular level as caffeine is known to promote the release of substances such as nitric oxide, that improve the function of the vessel.”

7 Early Signs and Symptoms of Kidney Infection | Be Aware!

The study involved data from 4,863 American people observed from 1999 to 2010. Compared with people who consumed a smaller amount of caffeine-containing beverages, caffeine consumers were more likely to be male, non-Hispanic white, have a higher education level and higher annual income, be current or former smokers, have higher alcohol consumption, and have fewer previous strokes.

The results of an analysis of 4,863 US citizens from 1999 to 2010 suggest “an inverse association between caffeine consumption and all-cause mortality among participants with chronic kidney disease. Comparing with people that consumed less caffeine, patients that consumed higher levels of caffeine presented a nearly 25% reduction in the risk of death over a median follow-up of 60 months.”

And now getting back to regular coffee. Here is a delicious recipe compliments of John Hopkins nutritionists. Not as healthy as plain black coffee, of course, but so delicious, and reasonably healthy.
