People with higher cholesterol levels actually have been found to have substantially better brain function than those tested who had low cholesterol levels.
How Does Your Body Use Cholesterol?
Actually, LDL and HDL are not even cholesterol, but carriers of cholesterol. They move cholesterol around the body where it is needed. They are actually proteins mixed with fat, which help the cholesterol mix with water (cholesterol is not water-soluble) to aid in its transport.

Your body is not stupid. It was designed to know what it needs to do to function optimally, unless there is something introduced or removed that causes a glitch. When your body is functioning normally, the optimum, or balanced levels of cholesterol will be around 275/75. This means that your overall cholesterol level is 275 mg and your HDL will be 75 mg. This isn’t that important, though. The important thing is the ratio. It should always be around 3:1. Your cholesterol levels can be quite a bit higher or lower than the 275/75, as long as the ratio is close to 3 parts overall cholesterol to 1 part HDL.
When LDL becomes oxidized, due to inflammation, this is where things can get not so good. But the solution is not to lower “bad” cholesterol, but treat the inflammation. The LDL was just doing its job. The inflammation causes the LDL to overwork, trying to repair the inflammation. It is inflammation that is the problem, but the “bad” cholesterol is blamed!

The side effects of high cholesterol medications are numerous. They not only hinder crucial cholesterol production, but they also hinder some other necessary functions of your body. Statin drugs are known to cause depression of mental sensitivity, anemia, acidosis, fevers, nausea, digestive troubles, muscle pain and weakness, and even cataracts.
