What Is CBD Oil Good For?

Medical literature on marijuana use has been written about for over five thousand years. It has been well-established that THC is the portion of the plant which produces a “high” or mild altering effect. CBD, on the other hand, is medicinal, offering relief from arthritis pain, seizures, cancer, Parkinson’s tremors, fibromyalgia, sciatica, and chronic pain of all kinds.

Below are additional uses not mentioned by Dr. Gottula but thoroughly tested.

Have you suffered from chronic acne for most of your life? CBD oil to the rescue. It reduces the overproduction of sebum which is an oily secretion made by the sebaceous glands in the skin.

Animal studies have shown the possibility of CBD decreasing inflammation, thus helping to prevent cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer’s.

What Else Is CBD Oil Good For?

Additional studies are needed, however CBD is thought to provide the following health benefits:

  • Antipsychotic afflictions such as schizophrenia may have the psychotic symptoms reduced.
  • In test tube and animal studies this product has demonstrated anti-tumor effects. In animals it has been shown to prevent the spread of breast, prostate, brain, colon, and lung cancer.
  • Again only in animals so far, CBD reduced the incidence of diabetes by 56%.

Should I Use CBD Oil Everyday If I Am Prone to Addiction?

Should I use CBD oil everyday, or even at all, if I am prone to addiction?

CBD has never been shown to be habit-forming. In fact, CBD has been shown to modify, to positive effect, circuits in the brain related to drug addiction.

Not only is CBD widely considered to be non-addictive, it will likely help someone struggling with meth and / or cocaine addiction.Should I Use CBD Oil Everyday If I Am Prone to Addiction?

Now back to our learned doctor.

In recent years it has become legal to grow and purchase CBD oil. It is particularly beneficial to children, preventing seizures and managing autism and cerebral palsy.

One example put forward by Dr. Gottula was a little girl named Charlotte who was born with a disease which included seizures. This poor little thing began her seizures at the age of three months. By the age of five she was experiencing as many as three hundred seizures per week. Every medication that was administered to her either was not effective or presented serious side effects. CBD was then administered as a last resort. Incredibly, and to Dr. Gottula’s delight Charlotte was seizure free for three days, then for longer and longer periods of time, until they stopped altogether.

And the list goes on.

So what is CBD oil good for, additionally? And when is the best time to take CBD?

Several human studies have discovered that a combination of THC and CBD is effective in treating multiple sclerosis pain, walking, and muscle spasms. The oral spray most often used for this purpose is called Salivex which has also proven to reduce chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting.

The way CBD oil is administered makes a difference as to the length of time it remains in the body. If smoked, the effects appear within fifteen minutes and remain in the body for two hours. If consumed in edible form such as gummies, the reaction time is thirty minutes but lasts for eight to twelve hours.

When is the best time to take CBD?

It depends what you are taking it for. Take CBD with your dinner in the evening to help to sleep at night. Or if you take it for chronic pain, take CBD when you wake up, and then every 3-4 hours thereafter.

CBD oil is made
by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and diluting it with a carrier oil such as coconut or hemp seed oil.

Dr. Gottula cautions that not all CBD oils are created equal and, as in all remedies, there are reputable manufacturers and distributors and those not as scrupulous. He recommends that, particularly if you order CBD online, you should ask for a certificate of analysis which lists all the ingredients, good and bad. He also cautioned that those taking Warfarin or Coumadin for blood thinning purposes should not take CBD as it interferes with this process.

The use of CBD oil should be researched specifically for possible conflicts with any other medications you might be on, as it interferes with cytochromes, a group of enzymes that are important to drug metabolism.

UPDATE: Is CBD Oil a Scam?

Is CBD oil just a placebo scam?

It is beginning to look that way, generally speaking. I’ll explain this in a minute, but first of all…

Never buy CBD products from Amazon. They are probably garbage.

It has been recently discovered that many CBD brands actually come from the same manufacturer, and are pretty well ineffective.

A Guide to Avoiding Ineffective CBD Products

The author of the above-linked website says this:

“On both websites (Amazon and eBay), third-party sellers are strictly forbidden from listing any products advertised as CBD oil, full-spectrum CBD, or any other name relating to CBD. This has resulted in an inadvertent open black market filled with dishonest sellers circumventing the rules with bogus but convincing products.  The issue with this black market is you simply don’t know what you’re purchasing. It’s like a lottery. You could get lucky, hit the jackpot, and buy something that resembles a CBD oil. You might also get hemp oil with more THC or hazardous chemicals than you bargained for. You just don’t know.

To make matters worse, third-party test results are rarely (if ever) listed, meaning there’s no way of telling what’s actually in the product to begin with. “

CBD oil that has used nano-emulsion technology to break CBD down into smaller particles is far superior because of its much-increased bioavailability, or its ability to be absorbed by the body.

Know the Difference Between CBD and Hemp Oil

CBD oil and hemp oil are not the same thing, and knowing the difference between the two is useful to know.

Hemp oil, which contains only minute amounts of CBD, is extracted from the seeds of hemp plants, and won’t provide you with therapeutic benefits. In contrast, CBD oil is made from the leaves and flowers of hemp plants. Both the leaves and “buds” of the hemp plant contain large quantities of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, which are all needed for CBD to be effective for what we want it to do.

It’s Not So Much the Amount of CBD as How It Is Made

What Is Nanoemulsion and How Does It Affect CBD Products?

“Is a new generation of CBD products about to take the place of “old-school” oils and creams? We don’t know for sure yet, but it will likely be a battle on the grounds of bioavailability, the degree to which a substance becomes available to target cells.”Royal Queen Seeds

Cannabinoids have a natural resistance to being absorbed into the bloodstream, but a new technology, called nano-emulsion, can now break cannabinoids down into tiny nanoparticles, which are then makes the oil made from these cannabinoids nearly water-soluble, and around 5 times more bioavailable.

  1. Thanks Jannette. Just make sure you get the good CBD that uses the nano-emulsion technology, as it is FAR more effective.

  2. Now CBD oil has been recommend to use by my primary physician but at advised to be careful when buying online.
I use CBD oil to help me relax, as if don’t relax and stress all the time. That could lead to me having another stroke.
As you have indicated CBD oil, can be used to treat a lot of conditions and I too stand by your research. I have shared your research on social media!

  3. Hey, JJ. Glad to hear it! Yes, I had the same problem with the negative stigma stuck to my brain. Anyway, if you have the pure CBD without THC in it, you don’t have to worry about getting “high” from it.

  4. I needed to read this article. I always have aches all over, not major but discomforts. I am fit, I do my annual check ups and I am in good health. I have read about CBD oil several times and have wondered if would help me. If fact I actually bought it and the bottle with dropper is sitting on my night table after having used it only 3 times. I guess it is because cannabis has been given such a bad rap for so long that I am being over cautious. After reading this, I am going to take CBD oil. Why waste my money ? Thank you.

  5. I’m not sure about using it topically, it seems to work for some people, but I have never had a reason to try it.

Yes, it is good for many things. There are some other things that are amazing for many things, too. Like Ashwagandha, Chlorine Dioxide and Black seed oil, all of which you can read about on my site. Just search for those words.

    Thanks, Edwin.

  6. I found this article very educational in the field of CBD. Am I correct in thinking that the same composition of CBD oil can be used for a variety of physical ailments? CBD seems like a miracle cure for almost everything. Am I correct in thinking this?

My wife and I have used CBD creams for arthritis on our fingures. Honestly, I didn’t feel any improvement. What was I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

    Edwin

  7. I think that using this kind of product in medicine can help a lot people who have certain mental illnesses or certain conditions. Products like this should be recommended more often for people who need them and do not know if they are safe, as I read in this article these products are safe.

  8. Hi. Thanks for this article. I am always excited to learn about CBD Oil, I’ve read a couple of articles and I’ve learnt a lot so far. I didn’t know that CBD oil was extracted from cannabis (or I didn’t recall it at least). CBD can heal a lot of kinds of pains, that’s why it’s so beneficial and helpful, I agree with you.

  9. Yes, it works for any kind of pain, really. You can either take it orally, or you can get the topical stuff, which you would rub right on the muscles.

  10. I am wondering should I use CBD oil for sore muscles? Do you think it would have a good impact on those? It’s been a while since I’ve heard of the CBD oil, and now I am wondering if it would help me. I try to avoid medicaments. And I know I have to go through the process, can’t find if the CBD oil helps

  11. Hey Chad. CBD without THC doesn’t make you feel “high”, unless you take a ton of it. I take the stuff with a tad of THC, which has better benefits for my back pain. The trouble I had with it was finding the right dosage so that it works, without making you feel high. It seems to be very touchy, especially since you have to take it for awhile for it to get in your system.

As far as the drug testing, it sounds like you would have to go no THC. I don’t know what the test would make of the pure CBD, but it should be okay, if you don’t live in Nebraska, South Dakota, or Iowa (I think those are the three states where even pure CBD is illegal).

  12. Hello Craig,

I was thinking as I get older with the aches and pain I have been noticing more frequently, I would like to try CBD oil instead of taking all the dang acetaminophen that I do. I have not been able to get myself to do it because I am subject to urine screening and I don’t want to get “high”.

Is this safe to use if I have to take a drug test? Will it make me feel “stoned”. I am interested but wary.

    Thanks,

    Chad

  13. Hi

It is good to here about CBD oil form n experienced doctor’s point of view. It is good to know that it is particularly beneficial to children, preventing seizures and managing autism and cerebral palsy. This is what the current medicines need. I believe it could reduce pill burden in a lot of patients.

Again, thank you for the caution that not all CBD oils are created equal. A lot of time we write of many products because we did not buy from the rightful suppliers.

I will be buying the CBD oil soo. Thank you for the article

  14. Indeed, they seem to almost be discovering new things every day that it helps with. I started taking it for broken ribs, which it helped nicely for the pain of, but I seem to have gotten some added benefits along the way. Particularly, it seems to be remedying a bad case of eczema.

  15. Hey there. Many don’t know what CBD is (or they think it’s something else). Cannabis oil rich in CBD is used as a dietary supplement, topical remedy or pharmacological treatment for the relief of chronic pain, inflammation in inflammatory bowel or skin diseases, anxiety, depression and even for severe and frequent seizures in epilepsy.

  16. With so many countries that have now legalised the use of medicinal CBD, there is more information available, and also more companies that are producing CBD products. I have seen a lot of research pointing to the amazing benefits of CBD when it comes to health and wellbeing.

Thankfully at the moment I am healthy, but I have already said that if I get to a point where I need pain relief or are suffering with an illness, then I will certainly look at using CBD products to help me.

  17. Good day, I’m pleased to meet you. Having gone through the information you provided has given me answers to whether I should use CBD oil and what it is for. The health benefits of CBD oil are amazing, and I am thrilled to have noted that we should be cautious if we order CBD oil online as you outlined. This is helpful, thanks for sharing.
